Calling all hunters, fishermen, gun enthusiasts and all others who enjoy the sporting and outdoor lifestyle. The Great American Outdoor Show makes the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Hall in Harrisburg its home now through Sunday.
Sportsmen and women from around the country will visit to see displays encompassing hunting, fishing, archery, camping and boating.
A variety of relevant seminars, demonstrations, calling competitions and NRA’s educational and safety programs round out the options, offered throughout the nine-day show.
I took my avid sportsman-husband, who both hunts (rifle and archery) and fishes, and we enjoyed watching some of the crossbow competitions. Also while there, he stocked up on special hunting vest-harnesses being sold by a vendor.
The event also features a variety of contests, celebrity meet and greets, plus special events for the whole family.
Kids will enjoy the Family Fun Zone with activities like Eddie Eagle coloring table, camo face painting, fishing, Insights computers, Hunter’s computers, Wildlife Identification, Archery, LaserShot, videos on duck calling and 3 Gun AirSoft.
In the large arena, check out Archery Tag — think of it like dodgeball with bows and non-lethal, foam-tipped arrows. A safe and family friendly experience.
Another “something for everyone” features an Air Rifle Range, hosted by Pyramid Air. From high-powered air rifles to air pistols, both conventional and cutting edge, you can test your skills with a variety of targets. 
Nearby, local retailer, Blue Mountain Outfitters hosts its Great American Outdoor Show Sale throughout the duration of the GAOS. Nearly everything in stock will be on sale — and BMO is located not far from the show in Marysville.
On Friday, the NRA Foundation will host the NRA Foundation Banquet at the Great American Outdoor Show. The event will feature fundraising, food, exclusive firearms and lots of fun. Doors open at 6 p.m.. Harrisburg, PA.
Saturday night, the Great American Outdoor Show welcomes Brantley Gilbert live in concert. Tickets for the event are sold out. If you’ve got your ticket, a reminder that the concert takes place in the Large Arena of the Farm Complex. Doors are at 6:30 p.m., show starts at 7 p.m.
