Hands-down one of my favorite events each year (and one my husband never complains about being dragged to), the Wild Game & Mushroom Dinner menus are available now through Nov. 10 at The Forebay and Hershey Grill, both located at The Hershey Lodge.
While the menus change each year (and differ at each restaurant), the menus always focus on the use of game, usually from New Zealand or other far-off lands, and local mushrooms. The pairings are always as divine as they sound.
This year, The Forebay’s Wild Game & Mushroom Dinner menu was a collection of small plates, where you choose three of the six options, plus dessert, for $30.
Two of us, three courses, six choices? Yep, we ordered it all, and boy am I glad we did.
Our first appetizer, the Wild Mushroom and Potato Napoleon, didn’t strike my interest by description but was highly recommended by our server — and it was easily one of our favorite dishes of the evening.
Other favorites included the Buffalo Carpaccio, served with a watercress, apple and gorgonzola salad, and the Blueberry and Coffee Dusted Elk Medallion.
My husband and I were also pleasantly surprised by the Wild Mushroom Ravioli, served atop Roasted Cauliflower and finished with a Romesco Sauce.
Dessert rounded out our meal — a Tiramisu Trifle, combining coffee, Ladyfingers, Marsala and Hershey’s Cocoa Mascarpone.
The Wild Game & Mushroom menu at the Hershey Grill also features small plates, choice of any three, plus dessert, for $30. Highlights include a starter of Country Pate Blend of Wild Boar, Bacon and Ham with Dijon mustard, Gherkins and crusty bread; Porcini Gnocchi served with Truffle Butter, Tomato, Spinach and Pecorino Romano; and Confit Leg of Pheasant with stew of Pheasant Sausage, Wild Mushrooms, White Beans and Brussel Sprouts.
Dessert at the Hershey Grill’s Wild Game & Mushroom Dinner features Fall Apple Strudel with Cranberry Relish and Cinnamon Ice Cream.
We may have to make a return trip before this special dining opportunity ends!
