The Halloween season is loaded with spooky delights, and the gardens at Hearts Design at Needful Things are showcasing 34 decorated scarecrows for the first-ever Scarecrows with a Heart Contest. 
Both local and regional nonprofit organizations have created custom scarecrows to compete for a $500 donation.
Visit Hearts Design at Needful Things and vote for your favorite scarecrow(s) with a small 10-cent “vote” in the jar next to your favorites. Voting is available during regular store hours throughout the month of October! The collected monies will be donated to each organization.
Then, on Nov. 2, the scarecrows will be auctioned off to further benefit the organization.
Hearts Design at Needful Things is open daily at 10 a.m.
Did you know it’s American Craft Week? On Saturday, check out local scarf designer Amber Kane for her scarf arranging demonstration and Truck Show from 1-4 p.m. at The Village Artisans Gallery in Boiling Springs.
The Village Artisans Gallery is recognized nationwide as a treasury of American craftmanship and artistry. During the Trunk Show, Amber will share how to arrange her hand-woven scarves and turn an ordinary outfit into a fashion statement.

Bring the family to the Ned Smith Center for its Fall Family Fun Day this Saturday. Children can get their faces painted, visit the pumpkin patch and create their own fall decorations at the Art Creation Station. Plus, pumpkin bowling and children’s train rides are available.
The Center’s “Only Owls” exhibit also opens on Sunday and features more than 40 pieces of art showcasing the world of owls. Admission to the gallery is included in Fall Family Fun Day tickets.
