Mark your calendar for the 2013 State Games of America. It’s everything you know and love about the annual Keystone State Games, but this year the organization is also hosting medal-winning athletes from State Games programs all across the country!  This spectacular amateur athletic festival of sports in the state, runs July 31 through August 4.

It is a prestigious national event – fitting for a region named the “Top Minor League Sports Market in America” for hometown summer teams like the Harrisburg Senators minor league baseball team and the Harrisburg City Islanders minor league soccer team.

Sports fans can expect a highly charged atmosphere of 10,000 competitors, from top-ranked athletes hoping to be recruited by colleges or national teams, to those who simply enjoy bettering themselves and socializing with fellow athletes. Spectators can see a spectrum of athletes aged 5 to 95 competing in more than 25 sports from archery, swimming, and lacrosse, to wrestling, fencing and judo.

The 2013 State Games of America takes place throughout the area, with its headquarters stationed at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Center.

More than 25 different sports are included in the Games, including archery, basketball, baseball, bowling, fencing, field hockey, figure skating, gymnastics, ice hockey, judo, karate, lacrosse, swimming, soccer, synchronized swimming, Tae Kwon Do, track & field, tennis, powerlifting, and wrestling.
